During the early portion of November, 3rd Grade Teacher Amanda Note turn-keyed information about her recent PD visit. The workshop titled "Building Thinking Classrooms"(Math Conference: Association of Mathematics Teachers of NJ) provided teachers with tips and skills on how to get their students to think deeper during instruction.

What an exciting time at the Hudson School during Halloween as students engaged in a very stimulating STEM Challenge.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, the 2nd and 3rd Grade classes at the Hudson School had a “My Heritage Show and Tell.” Students dressed up, bought in an artifact and/or a traditional food from their country. Then, the students presented their artifacts to the audience. It was truly educational and enjoyable.

The Hudson School Parent Breakfast addressed the issue of chronic absenteeism. Parents were shown data that demonstrates how critical it is for their children to attend school everyday. We also examined district policy and procedures. Thank you to our parent liaison Maria Lopez for arranging this important event.

Hudson School aides received professional development training on behavior
techniques/interventions from one of the district Board Certified Behavior Analysts, Yocasta Santos. This helpful training gave aides the tools and strategies they need to successfully assist students everyday. A special thank you to our child study team and Ms. Santos for being proactive!

Please be advised that the Union City Board of Education, the Office of Community Relations in conjunction with Union City Mayor Brian Stack, the Board of Commissioners and County Commissioner Fanny Cedeno will be hosting a "FREE Citizenship Workshop & Free Waiver Assistance" to assist residents interested in applying for the U.S. Citizenship completing their applications for this process. Recently, the students from the Hudson School were able to go shopping for fruits and vegetables at the Chartwells "Farm To School" Market. It was a very enjoyable time for everyone.
