Welcome to Mrs. Gomez'

3rd-Grade Classroom

My name is Ann Gomez and I will be your child’s third-grade teacher this year! Third grade is an important foundation year in your child’s elementary career.  Last year they became better readers, building fluency and comprehension skills. This year my job is to reinforce what they have learned, expand their comprehension skills and increase their reading fluency so that they will be able to now read to learn new and exciting things in all subject matters.  Like a wise man once said, “it takes a village”.  Well, in this case, it’s true and I will need all your help.  I promise to do my best at mentoring your child on this exciting journey filled with challenges and rewarding opportunities.

As a teacher and a parent, I feel parents want to know a little more about the person who will be caring and educating their child 180 days of the year so let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have a Master of Arts in Elementary Education.  I hold certifications in Supervision of Education,  Elementary Education,  Early Childhood and English as a Second Language.  I have been teaching for 15 years and have taught eighth, PreK, fourth,  first,  second and third.  I LOVE teaching third grade because I feel I know where they are coming from and where they are going!!!  I also have two small children of my own therefore I know what it’s like to be the parent, so I truly understand!

Communication with families is one of my top priorities. This year, you can be certain that I will work diligently to help them in any way possible. Please feel free to contact me at any point if you have any questions or concerns about something going on in the classroom or with your child specifically. There are many ways that you may do this. You can send me a message on ClassDojo (which is the best way) or call the school to set up an appointment to meet with me.  I hope you find this to be a helpful resource throughout the year. I am looking forward to a fun-filled year of learning and exploring.
